Hello all After Effects Enthusiasts,
I am sure most of you have seen the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight. I would like to know how the effects were created in the DC Comics Opening Logo Animation. An example of this can be seen here about 12 seconds in:
Basically, this is a plane with holes cut out and lights or light rays shining through the plane that turn into the DC logo. I believe this can be done with after effects and/or after effects with a 3d application. I am mostly interested in the light rays and a quick and easy way to create them (possibly a plug-in?) Thanks for all your help.

trapcode shine would work well but if you dont wanna spend out a load of money you might be able to tweak an effect i made a tutorial on how to create lighting effects without shine.

Craig, very good instructions for a convincing effect, nice contribution to the world of tutorials.
Umm, wish your screen capture wasn't tracking your cursor so rapidly. Seasick.
