Error when rendering
by Jane Cassidy on Nov 28, 2008 at 11:36:18 am

I'm trying to render my composition. I'm rendering it as an umcompressed quicktime file. Yesterday it rendered fine but today everytime I've tried to render it it quits around a quarter way through saying...
After Effects Error: adding to movie -- disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36)
(44::39)

and sometimes another window appears saying...
After Effects Error: updating movie -- disk error (I/O error; bad media) (-36)
(44::53)

I'm exporting to my external hard drive on which there is 300G of free space so space isn't an issue and as far as I'm aware I haven't changed anything since yesterday and it exported fine onto the hard drive then.

Please help!
Thank you

I had this same issue as well. Were you able to come up with a solutions?

Is the drive you are rendering from, the drive After Effects is installed on, close to being full. I had this issue and I think I may have solved it by clearing drive space on the system drive, the drive I was rendering to had enough space as well. I will let you know if clearing out some space on the system drive works for me.
