change frame rate of keyframes
by mihai wilson on Nov 18, 2008 at 6:30:31 pm

Hi, Im wondering how to change the spacing of keyframes based on frame rates. I have a 24fps comp that has a lot of keyframes spaced evenly at 24fps (1 key per frame). I want change the comp to 12fps, and then move the keys to 1 per frame at the new fps. Any way to do easily this? I Tried rove across time but that did not work accurately enough. I need the keys to fall exactly on the frame. Thanks.

Do you want to change the COMP'S frame rate or the FOOTAGE'S frame rate? Comps don't come with keyframes inside them: they're in the footage.

If it's indeed the comp's frame rate, I'd just leave the errant keyframes in place and render frames-only. AE should only react to the keyframe at the beginning of the frame. If you wanted to be double-dog sure of that, you could always change them all to Hold keyframes.

It's either do that or start eliminating every other keyframe and moving them. I'm not sharp at all on scripts, but the techinque you want to use sounds like magic-wand stuff.
