HELP!!! program crashes when importing photoshop images
by kiki na on Nov 18, 2008 at 2:05:47 pm

This is very urgent!!! When I import files created with Photoshop CS2 in After Effects 07 it crashes immediately or when i click on composition to actually see it on screen. (tryed import different file formats)the format I try to use is HDV 1440

Error: not enough memory to create layer (IK requested, 2096276k...)
or something similar.

I think I cheked everything I could think of (file compatability, aspect ration, size, format...memory), but I run out of ideas. I would be glad for any suggestion, because I recently began to learn this program.

I am using Windows Vista 64bit 4gb, quadracore

PS: I imported some ready projects and everything was fine, but when I create from scratch it doesn't work.

Check the Photoshop file: if it is CMYK and not RGB, you need to change it to RGB. After Effects doesn't work with CMYK.

The file is RGB. I am near desperation, I need to finish this work rather soon, but there seems to be no solution. :(

There is another possibility. You may have used Layer Styles in Photoshop. After Effects can only support SOME layer styles, not all of them.

If you can, modify the Photshop document. I think the proper term is to "flatten" the layer styles... that is, make the changes permanent and non-adjustable.

It might make the photoshop document readable. I don't know for certain.
