Ribbon Effect using Motion Paths
by Chris Martin (chrismartin.tv) on Nov 3, 2008 at 6:28:03 am

I've searched high and low in the hope of not starting another thread but have been unsuccessful in finding what I'm looking for. I'm probably using incorrect terminology or I've just missed the other threads that cover this.

I have a two dimensional image that I would like to animate in 3d space. Simple enough. However, I want to animate this particular image to fly in along a predefined 3d motion path in a way that it curves and folds and flows like a ribbon would. I have attached the final image I'm going for (it's the graphic I'm basing the project on). The ribbon at the bottom needs to fly in from the right as if it's a straight streamer but follow the top edge of the ribbon in the image. It also needs to stop and match the image by not flying off the screen.

I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense. I'm trying to word it as best as I can for such a specific request.

Thanks in advance.

Chris
