ram preview and render errors
by paolo mugnaini (paolom) on Oct 21, 2008 at 6:24:23 pm

Hi,
I am working on a 50 sec timeline where I have some green screen footage keyed over a precomped bg.
I am using CS3, on a macpro 8 core with 10 gb of ram. Now I rendered a few version of this timeline but now it's telling me that 1) it needs more than 2 frames to ram render, and 2) during rendering it stops saying that the memory cache is....can't remember exactly, it tells me to decrease the size of ram cache and to increase the memory size....another message comes up saying :error allocating Quicktime handle. I have tried rendering to another drive, changing codec but it's the same.
can anyone please help?

thanks

Paolo

I bet you're using HDV footage. I uses interframe compression, also known as long-GOP or temporal compression. AE doesn't like it. You would need to change the footage to a different codec BEFORE you import it into AE.

I suggest the Animation codec at best quality.
