shaded contour map from ordnance survey?
by Alan Howard (AlanEHoward) on Oct 14, 2008 at 10:02:28 pm

Hi,
I need to produce a copyright free map of a mountaineous (?)region for a walking series... my idea is to base it on an ordnance survey map that shows contour lines, and throw a side light into this image giving shadows that indicate the appropriate heights via the depth of shadow.... the image will stay as 2D (no travelling camera position) and apart from the occasional zoom in, will be pretty simple...
any tutorials / suggestions on how to do this would be gratefully received........
thanks in advance ..
Alan

It sounds like you might need 3D Warps from the folks at Zaxwerks. It might do what you need.
