add glow to stroke effect

Hi guys. I am using the stroke effect to highlight a path. I would like to make the path glow. I tried to use the glow effect but it makes the whole layer glow and not just the path. Any ideas?

Could you not just add the stroke to a seperate later (maybe a duplicate), then in the Stroke filter set it to display on transparent. Now you can glow the stroke without affecting anything else.
