footage looks bad
by Mike Throck on Oct 3, 2008 at 7:01:52 pm

I render out animations in Maya (which looks great). I bring them into AE and they look pixelated even at full res, render out bad too. Anyone know why this is? I've been using AE for a while know and I don't remember ever having this problem.

Try importing the Maya sequence, then dropping it onto the New Comp button at the bottom of the Preview window. This will create a Comp with the same settings as the sequence.

What are the differences between this comp and the ugly comp?

For some reason AE didnt like the quicktime I made out of the image sequence. When I brought the sequence directly into AE it fixed the problem. thanks for helping out.

Excellent. Just remember -- by default, AE interprets image sequences as 30 fps, so you might need to re-interpret it as 29.97 or whatever you want it to be. Then drag it onto the New Comp button.
