AECS3 being weird... any ideas?

I teach advanced broadcast design at a university and im stumped! I'm having strange issues with the AE CS3 in the computer classroom i teach in... which i cannot fix or replicate on my home computer... any suggestions would be welcomed:
• Cameras- 3d cameras are showing up only as little rectangles in the alternate views (top, left, custom etc) instead of having the point of interest and "pyramid" shaped box coming out of them... making navigating with them terribly awkward
• Vector Paint- When I use Vector Paint on my home computer... A little set of paint tools pops up in the comp window to the left of my working comp... at my classroom... no such toolbox pops up making it impossible to draw or use it!
• Presets- All the type presets seem to be non existent ( I guess these have just been deleted?)
