Layer accepting only specific lights

How do I make a layer be affected by a specific light but not another? Say I have two layers, one layer is affected by a red light and I want another layer affected by a green light. Both of these layers will be affected by both lights. I can make one light an adjustment layer and it will affect only the layer beneath it. But the other light still affects all the layers. Is this possible? Thanks,
Geno

If the shadows dont overlap, you could place a vertical layer, wall, if you will between the shadows and have it not show shadows, kind of like an invisable wall that blocks light. Hope this helps.

selective lighting, common in other node based compositing apps for vfx, and a feature request I have been constantly requesting to Adobe.
I wish. The other reply to this is a workaround, albeit sounds, still, I wish Adobe paid more attention to those of us trying to get more vfx features out of AE.

Hey, thanks guys for your responses. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one wanting this. And thanks for the workaround suggestion. I'll see if that works for my specific project.
