Shape Layers to SWF?
by Björn Svensson on Sep 11, 2008 at 9:52:00 am

Hello!

Im trying to export a growing arrow that I've done in AE out of shape layers.

I was under the impression that Shape Layers ARE true vectors, but I cannot find a way to export my clip to SWF without AE rasterizing it!

Please help me out here, as I'm trying to make a good impression on my new colleagues(just started my new job 3 days ago), and they're all Flash people and have never used AE.

Thanks for any help,

Björn

Ensure that Continuously Rasterize is switched off. That seems to be a user-error when creating such an effect.

The symbol for Continuously Rasterize is greyed out in the Shape Layers, so I can't switch it off! I don't even know if that means it's turned on or off...

DANG! OK I admit, I've hardly used it for any real work. Perhaps there is an issue with how you are exporting it as SWF? Jim Tierney has a COW Tutorial on exporting stuff to SWF. I would assume that the principles and procedures are pretty similar then as it is now.

Go have a look.

Good Luck!

I had a look in his tutorial, but it's an old one and was probably written way before the introduction of shape layers, so no help there unfortunately...

Well, Shapes are essentially Ballerina Masks. Perhaps if you shared the procedures that you went through and the results you obtained, someone may be able to better assist you.

Cheers
