movement of layer between key frames of the same value?
by chris fairall on Sep 11, 2008 at 8:59:32 am

Hi all, I am relatively new to After effects, I am animating pictures and text. My problem is that
I have two key frames of the same value with a 1 minute gap in between but the layer just can't help it's self and just has to move along the z axis forward and then back to it's original place?!

There are no other keyframes in between or after it; I am confused. I have a camera flying around but is stationery for this time and is not interfering as no other layer is moving. If I add key frames to the other layers in the same way they all move forward and then back?

can anyone help please,

Simply highlight the keyframe where the motion is supposed to stop, and then use the Toggle Hold Keyframe command. Now your animation will come to a stop, remain rock-steady and resume motioin when it encounters the next keyframe... which has the same precise value.

Know that this trick works ONLY with two keyframes of identical values. If you decide to change one value, you have to change both.
