AE Color Space - Dark Renders
by Jeff Carson on Sep 5, 2008 at 2:59:23 pm

This new world of QT color management is confusing. AE Ram previews and renders (of footage elements only) look 20% darker than expected. non-QT elements are unaffected. We work with DVC-Pro HD footage from P2 and HD tape. I am bringing QT based footage into After Effects (including ProRes exported from FCP). I have tried using any number of combinations of color management settings within AE and QT with no success. Another suite here with similar Intel MacPro and AE 8.0.2, BUT it is running Leopard and it is working fine with NO color management enabled. Am I missing something? I am about to upgrade to Leopard. I am willing to bet that will do the trick... wishful thinking?

Dual 3Gb Mac Pro Intel 8 Core, 5GB RAM, OS 10.4.11, QT 7.5, FCP2 6.0.4, AE 8.02.27, CS3, AJA ioHDv6

Thanks Chris. Interesting reading. Completely missed that thread. So what is the current workaround? I just updated to Leopard and it made no difference.
