Adding motion blur to footage.
by Ian Collister on Aug 31, 2008 at 7:07:58 pm

Hi All
I am trying to add some natural looking motion blur to a bit of imported footage. Ive tried using Force Motion Blur, but ill i get is a sort of rubbish ghosting effect, it looks more like echo than motion blur. Could anyone advise me on some settings or set up to get a more natural/AE looking motion blur?

Cheers
i.

Simple, try our ReelSmart Motion Blur.

the timewarp effect in ae can also add motion blur... it's not as good as reelsmart motion blur, but it's free and it may work for you...

apply timewarp to the footage, set the speed to 100 (you don't want to change the speed, just add mo-blur). enable motion blur for the plugin and tweak the settings.

it won't be as good as rsmb, but should be better than force motion blur (which is really designed for plugins that don't support motion blur natively)
