Hi there.
Im trying to create an effect of something passing through glass and the glass rippling slightly.
Specifically its a T.V. screen with a pillow passing through it into "TV LAND"
I thought that creating a greyscale map with "Wave World" and using a displacment map on my tv image layer with the map layer turned to teh wave world layer may create this but it does not seem to be having an effect.
After searching this forum I discovered CC Blobbylise may do the trick in the place of the displacement map, this resulted however in the image dissapearing and revealing the wave world layer underneath in its place.
I feel im on the right track but havent quite worked it out...can anybody help with a suggestion?

Thank you for the reply :) I have indeed checked out that tutorial and as much as it helps its not exactly the effect im going for. What I really need is the type of ripples as caused by wave world.... is there a way to use wave world as my displacement?

i've not tried it, but if i were...this is what i would try first....
use your wave world to create a ripple effect on a black background using just white highlights. This should give you a greyscale image to use as the map.
Pre-comp this ripple and drag it into your main composition.
duplicate your tv shot layer, and on the top layer add your displacement effect which should be set to use the ripple precomp as the displacement map.
Precomp this layer, then on the precomp create a mask around the screen so you hide everything except the screen. This way the ripple will only affect the screen a nd not the tv surround or environment.
Like i say - thats what i would try first, but its not something i've tried ....good luck
