Elipse path for images to rotate around?
by Carol Ann on Aug 21, 2008 at 4:16:03 am

Hi there,

I'm a complete newb but would like create an elipse in 3D that I can rotate square images around giving the illusion of depth so that that the images at the back are small..they rotate around and are at the front of the elipse... abit like the new adobe acrobat v.9 template for a portfolio..one of them is a rotating images style. It's hard to describe I guess.

I swear I've tried a lot of the tutorials...but can't get the "elipse" I've created in Illustrator to paste into After Effects..and even if I could do this..not sure how to link a layer with an image onto the "path" so that is will track around the elipse.

If you know of a tutorial even that will show me this..that would be great.

I hope someone can help.

Cheers for now

Carol Ann

Perhaps a URL will allow us to see what you have in mind. There's a COW tutorial on placing images/vids in a ring-like structure. If you place a Null in the middle and parent the layer to the Null, you can then rotate the Null and have the layers rotate as well. Not too sure if this is what you want though.

Best thing is to head on to the COW's Tutorial section and do a search for "ring".

Good Luck
