Ok, so this is a little hard to explain. This is a good example:
http://xplsv.tv/movie/1701/ Go frame by frame. In the beginning on the movie, right after the mouse pointer goes to the center to reveal the black and orange explosion of morphing shapes.
What I am focused on is those black shapes. They seem 3D, and they seem to "explode" into very angular/rectangular shapes and then curve around and whatnot.
How would one go about this? I suppose one could mess with Trapcode 3D Stroke with the Repeater on, maybe Shatter? I don't know, but I love the effect.
Basically something that explodes from nothing and swishes around, morphs and curves into these nice fractal shapes and ends up revealing something else.
Know what I mean?
I can't seem to figure anything out.
Thanks!

It's so short, my guess would be the easiest way to replicate it would be a reverse shatter for the collapse and some animated mattes for the initial burst.
