problem with roating 3D text- render doesnt match keyframes
by Angela Greene on Aug 5, 2008 at 4:08:31 pm

I am doing a simple Y space rotation of text. I set the layer to 3D, the keyframes to start on a "sideview"- 90 degrees, and do a 180 rotation. Looks fine when I scrub through the timeline. But when I render it, it does EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE- it starts with the flat view (0), rotates to invisible (90) and goes back flat (180). Its making me totally nuts. Anyone know whats going on?

It sounds as if you may have set up your AE animation using the left or right views, or perhaps one of the custom views, instead of an actual AE camera. You may not even have used a camera -- you don't have to.

But the crucial thing is this: you can't copy data from a view into an actual AE camera. You have to re-do the animation. Sorry.

Forgetting that you're looking a a View instead of a camera is one of those mistakes you only make once. So if that's what happened to you, there's a bright side.

That was it! Was on Left view - who knows how it got there since I was blissfully unaware of cameras until now. Thanks SO much.
