Fading out lights?
by chris Cummings on Jul 28, 2008 at 8:37:24 pm

I've got some lights set-up in a comp (AE CS3 Pro) that I'd like to simply fade out while retaining the rest of the comp above and below the lights. It doesn't seem there's any way to do this except to lower the intensity, however, this turns the scene completely black. I must be missing something...even tried the trusty Trish & Chris Meyer books and couldn't find anything on this...

Thanks for any help!
~Chris

I recommend taking the layers you don't want affected by the lights and go into the material options (make sure you have 3D layer switched on) and change effected by lights from on to off. I hope this helps. :)
