Ram preview only rendering first few hundred frames of comp
by matt jones on Jul 25, 2008 at 8:14:37 pm

Hi, the ram preview in after effects is only playing the first few hundred frames of say a 900 frame composition, and then it just starts looping it. any idea why it isn't playing through the whole clip or whats causing it to cut off. Thanks

It means After Effects has run out of RAM to cache to. Sometimes if you have a really intense comp, and you're working in 32 bpc, it can only preview a few frames. Try working at 50% quality or something like that, and if you still run into problems, maybe skip every other frame or so in the ram preview.
