I need to track an HDV shot in boujou.
It was shot with the Panasonic AG-HVX200.
I heard that if you know the film back is a precious piece of information.
Does anybody know the film back for this camera?
And also my sequence is 1440x1080 par:1.33, is it better to track it like this or first convert it to a square pix comp of 1920x1080.

[Caffein indeed]"I heard that if you know the film back is a precious piece of information. "
It is if you're using a STILL camera. Video cameras can't have interchangeable backs because they don't use the Single Lens Reflex system of imagery. Furthermore, it's impossible to put a film back on a video camera... for obvious reasons.

The HVX 200 isn't an HDV camera. Panasonic uses a proprietary recording system called P2, which can be converted to the user's choice of codecs at capture from tape, or import from P2 cards. The codec used is the DVCPro HD codec, a very well-known codec indeed.
How did YOU capture your video? It makes a difference.

hopefully the dvcprohd footage was not brought into an nle then exported to hdv for you to use. if you open the footage in quicktime it should tell you the codec in the movie info window.
if it is indeed hdv and you know the material was shot on an hvx, i'd ask for the clip(s) to be exported as a lossless .mov (ae won't work as well with hdv or dvcprohd, it will work very well with a lossless mov).
