Walking through a wall
by Dick Marellan on Jul 19, 2008 at 9:00:14 pm

I've recently shot some green screen footage which has all turned out well and keys off nicely.
I'm mainly an editor but occasionally do the odd AE effect (nothing fancy, mainly just to sweeten things up).
After the fact the client has asked for a certain effect. Normally I'd pass it on to an AE artist, but the budget has dried up so I'm stuck with it.
The effect is to make the actor appear through a wall/mist as seen in the link below.

I have a vague idea of how I might go about it, but as I said I'm an editor and an AE novice and wouldn't want to make a total fool of myself on my first post!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

just use a displacement map with a keyframed opacity. The best tutorial to learn how is the invisible cape tutorial. You will have no problem at all getting this project done very fast and easily.

Many thanks.
That's kind of what I suspected. Just neded confirmation from someone who knows what they are talking about.
Thanks again.
