Custom shapes and animating the stroke
by alex dinnin on Jul 17, 2008 at 6:26:31 pm

Sorry, It's late.. I'm tired and I have been working for too long on this.. This should be really easy, but for the life of me I don't know

I am making a map, I am using the new CS3 custom shapes tool to create a path from A to B.

Is there any way of animating this like you can with the effects > stroke tool. by animating I mean. animate the end position so it shows the route the traveller has taken. I can't believe Adobe would leave out such a key feature. But they sure have hidden it well.

I can't for the life of me find any way to do it.. the new help in CS3 is rubbish, and I can't seem to find anything online..

just a gentle nudge would be grand, thanks for your help

Alex

do you mean change the color of the stroke as the car drive over it? that's just a keyframed wipe transition layer for a new stroke color.

This is actually a tutorial I recorded for august.

In the shape layer, under stroke, look for the property called "Trim Paths" Animate that, and your stroke will animate on.
