is there anyway to turn off the finished rendereing noise in AE?

Turn down the speakers.

No, seriously, I suspect there's a way to modify the huge text file that is AE Preferences that will do the trick. But since I never touch that file, I'm of no help.

According to Glenn Stewart in a COW post:

Open the preferences file in a text editor, in 6 they added the line

"Play sound when render finishes" = "1"

just change the 1 to 0 and your done!!

Hi.

Besides disengaging the sound, you could change it to something fun.
The folks at Toolfarm have this little tutorial...

That way, R2-D2 can beep at you when a render is complete. :)
