I am trying to compile a list of missing assets, anway to export the whole asset list to a text/excel file?

This may give you what you need.

Go to File>Collect Files
Check "Generate Report Only"

It will give you a txt file of all media, effects, etc.

i need a detailed list of the missing file previous locations, ty tho, i got excited thinking that would work

Try posting on the Expressions forum - I'm not familiar enough with AE's exposed object model to know whether this is easy to get at via code or not, surely Dan Ebberts (or one of the other guru's) will know!

It's too bad that doesn't work.
This isn't the best solution, but maybe it can help.

Hit the ~ key to take the Project Panel full screen.
Open all directories. Click File Path to sort by file path.
This should put all Missing files together (within their folder directories) and list their previous locations.
Take a screenshot or however many you need to cover them all..
