text effect in after effects

im trying to achieve a text affect similar to the one at the begining
of this video







its a big blob of ink that morphs into text
so im just wondering how i would pull that off in after effects

Hello Zach,

Awesome video, I had not seen this before.

My recommendation is to try a "work backwards" technique with this one. If you have Illustrator or photoshop I would start there with your text as it would stand at the end of the morph as your first layer. Then just create another layer and make it darker and add ink blots and so on and so on for how ever many layers you want. Save it, import it into after effects as a composition and just bring in the layers one at a time.
