hi folks
is there a way to open up an after effects project and skip the looking for referenced files (most of the files got lost due to a harddisk crash). as the project i am using has a lot of referenced movies and soundfiles it takes ages to open up.
i am working on mac osx. the dialog window looking for the files is probably coming from quicktime not from after effects. still, maybe you now of a way.

If it bothers you all that much, open the project ONCE and deal with all the searching. Then either delete or relink the missing missing footage, and save the project using a different name.
It isn't exactly brain surgery, you know.

thanks dave for your replay. i am aware of this possibility. due to the fact that there are really alot of referenced files in there it takes some hours to open up maybe even as long as a brain surgery would take. that's why i asked if anyone knows of a solution to skip it.
my solution right now is to detach the after effects file from all referencing files so the there won't be a searching process for the referenced files.
