Graphics card - video display heavy load?
by Jimmy Brunger on Jul 9, 2008 at 11:53:40 am

Hi all,

Not sure exactly where to post this (admins please feel free to move it to where's appropriate) but thought some of you more techy guys might have an answer for this...?

With a graphics card, how much of a load on the card is something like playing HD video in quicktime? I mean I know GFX cards work hard with 3D graphics and gaming, but would a 512MB card perform better at playing say 2 x HD quicktimes concurrently than a 256MB model? I'm talking frame rate and sync performance here. The play all movies command in QT Pro seems to work well on multiple files but there is some delay and wondered if it was a an issue with GFX card, or procs, or RAM or disc speed?

They're only 450MB h264 movies so shouldn't be too heavy on the HDDs?

Thanks guys,
Jim.
