When using Shatter to make 3D text, I like the look of it, but was wondering if there is a way to Bevel the text with the 3d extrusion?
Also, is it plausible to animated the text with the scene using the camera options? I am looking to make floating text that follows people as they walk etc.

Are you running CS3? There's an effect which allows you apply Photoshop-like effects to text such as bevel and emboss etc...but since I'm in work and can't see AE I can't remember where it is!! lol Sorry!
As for animating the text, I don't know if just using the camera would work. If you're making the text follow people (e.g. A speech bubble) then you'd probably need to animate it by hand or motion track them. There's probably a million other ways to do it but I'm no expert and this is the best I can think of.

Yes, I tried to apply the filter in AE and from Photoshop and it does work, but the Bevel is applied to whichever way the 3d object is facing, not the face of the letters.
I would be satisfied with the letters in the youtube video - any suggestion on how to achieve that?

Yeah, that is what I thought, but I had found the link via After Effects so I thought it might be possible.
I have recently seen the effect on the "FRINGE" tv pilot where they have floating words to introduce scene, which have a bevel and are quite nice. I am guessing these are probably 3D as well then?
