Wacom tablets and AECS3

I have just got a Wacom tablet to use with AECS3, specifically to use for vector paint hand drawn style animation.
It works great, the pressure sensitivity and fluidity of the lines is exactly what I need, however, when I am using vector paint with it, once I have drawn a line, and pressed the key to move on a frame my computer (iMac Intel) hangs slightly and the X and Y numbers in the info tab sroll through numbers. The pen is still while I am doing this.
This is a little confusing as it take a couple of seconds for each frame which it doesn't do when I use the mouse to draw.
Does anyone know why this is happening or how I could stop it from hanging?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Martin

I am using a iMac Intel Duo, running Leopard, Adobe After Effects CS3. I phoned Adobe and they told me the Wacoms would work with Leopard and AECS3.
The Wacom tablet was purchase new last week so I'm assuming the drivers that came with it are up to date, I'll check the site though still.
It is almost like the computer is doing some kind of render when the X Y info numbers are counting....As in I can't click and do anything while it's doing it, and the numbers will increase, then start again (I have no idea if they start from the "beginning" as they scroll kinda quickly.
Thanks for looking, I hope someone can help.
