masking help
by matt rinaldo on Jul 3, 2008 at 8:16:38 pm

i am animating a fire truck i made in illustrator and I want to have it drive around in inside a circle i made in ae.

I can not figure out a way to mask the truck or circle ? so that when the truck moves around in the circle it does not go outside the edge of the circle. i need the mask to effect the truck but me stationary like the circle.

thanks

Draw a mask on another layer. Then copy the mask shape to your position keyframes on your truck layer. You can even use the "orient to path" feature to keep it pointing correctly.

Eternity...don't miss it for the world.

i will not be able to try this out until Monday, but i can see how it would work. thanks i did not know that i could paste a mask to the position key frames, this way i can mask out the layer only at those key frames i past the mask shape to.
