After Effects Workflow Help - Exporting BINK files out of AF ?
by Hans Meiser on Jul 3, 2008 at 9:45:33 am

Hello Creativecow-Community,

I have a question concerning the fastest export of BINK/Bik Files out of After Effects.
I need to create a lot of huge HD Videos that have to be in bink-format.

My actual workflow now is to create is to create a H264.Quicktime file and than convert it into Bink.
But that takes a long time.

So I my questions:

- Can I save one step? Can export direct from AF to bink?

- How can I save time? Am I compressing 2 times when I create a compressed Quicktime and again a compressed Bink?

- I noticed my hardware operate at the capacity of 30%. Do I lose extra Performance?
( I got a Quadcore 2,40, 4GB Ram, AF CS3, Mutlicore is activated. Max Ram-Cache ist at 30%, max cache(?) at 120%)

Thank you in advance for every time saving tip or hint!

I hope you get some decent suggestions but I've never heard of Bink. Most proprietary or obscure codecs require buying something equally obscure. Since you have no codec directly available from within Quicktime, you must make two passes. What does "huge HD" mean to you?

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: "For crying out loud, read the freakin' manual."
