AE and FCP_Stuttery Renders
by Joey Burnham on Jun 30, 2008 at 10:30:25 pm

Has anyone had any problems with 10.5 and 1080p 23.98 Renders out of AE into FCP?
I have an edit bay that is producing renders with the usual settings, but FCP is interpreting them weird. There are stops in movement at random places and looks juddery. There is no pattern to the stops. We can fix this by just exporting an image sequence, but that's a pain.
Oh, and the renders play fine in QT.
Thanks,
Joey B

Be sure that your After Effects comp framerate is 23.976 and not 23.98 (Final Cut apparently knows the difference), then re-render. If re-rendering is impractical or impossible, you should be able to open the QT movie in Cinema Tools and click "Conform." Set it to 23.98.
