Masking not growing with layer
by Ben Brunetti on Jun 30, 2008 at 9:11:16 pm

Hi,

This is a problem that I have encountered on numerous occasions that is bugging the life out of me. I hope I can explain it clearly for you to help me.

I am creating a 3D zoom in through a landscape. The camera moves past buildings I drew in Illustrator and zooms into an apartment building window. In the window I have a couple kissing.

I animated the couple (which are also drawn in AI) on one composition (lets call Couple Comp). Then I placed the couple into a composition with the whole apartment building (lets call Apartment Comp). On this comp, I masked out the area so that the couple fit into a window frame and positioned the Couple Comp in place of that window. Lastly, I placed the Apartment Comp into a comp with the 3D camera move and with the other cityscape elements(lets call Cityscape Comp). The camera starts very far away from the Apartment building and zooms into the window so that is is full frame and you can see the couple kissing.

When combined all together, everything looks good within the Cityscape Comp except for the window with the couple in it. The window stays very small even when the camera gets up close to the Apartment Comp. Why isn't the Couple animation growing with the comp that it is placed in? Do masks not grow with 3D camera moves?

Thanks for your help.

Ben
