Falling Ring in 3D - LOTR effect

Does anyone know of a tutorial to render a falling ring in 3D that can be overlay on a video ?
A guy takes out an engagement ring and it falls to the ground - but its easier to animate it..
Cheers!

i don't know of a LOTR tutorial but workflow could go something like this - green screen his finger taking ring off then match a cgi ring to it and transition to cgi to do whatever you what. import cinema 4d 3-D ring back into AE.

Why are you making life complicated for yourself? Simply storyboard out the sequence of shots you need including the ring. Experiment on paper. Then just shoot it. It's not exactly brain surgery, y'know....
