Small Caps size variation?

I'm wondering if anyone has an answer for this minor annoyance:
when using the Small Caps preference (in the character window), I'd like to be able to alter the variation between the 2 uppercase sizes (generally I find the larger cap size too big vs. the smaller cap size). Any ideas?

Doesn't the typeface determine a lot of that? For example, many typefaces are nothing BUT uppercase in two sizes, and if you have have Small Caps enabled for one of those, won't that mess things up?

Yes, I believe that's true to some extent, however, I guess my question really is, is there an equivalent setup (or workaround) for Small Caps in AE as in Illustrator -- in Illustrator, if you go to File Setup/Type, there's a preference to change the size percentage of Small Caps (eg., 70%)....
