Auto position anchor point in layer
by Dave Navarro on Jun 25, 2008 at 10:09:06 pm

I created an Adobe Illustrator file with 48 layers, each of which is one of the mainland US states.

I imported the file as footage and I have a comp with 48 layers in it, exactly as I wanted. Each is position perfectly so that all together they look like the USA.

I want to do some 3D stuff with the layers, however the anchor point for each layer is in the center of the comp.

Do I have to manually move the anchor point to the center of each state? Or is there a way to automatically do it for me?

The only way I know how to do it is this: import the Illustrator document AGAIN, again as a comp, but don't use Document Size, but Layer Size.

The comp that is created ought to have each state in position, with the anchor points in the right places. If it's messed up, well, you can always use the one you imported previously as a guide to position the layers properly.
