NUCLEO - Rendering outside comp window? (REVISED)

I am still seeing huge render times for cropped comps when using Nucleo. We haven't got time right now to test rendering them without (it would take days!!)

Basically, here is the exact worflow we are following to render final single screen crops of a 5-screen HD movie we are working on...

6720 x 784 original comp. rendered out to TGA sequence.

TGA sequence > make new comp from sequence.

make new comp @ 1280 x 720 HDTV.

Dropped 6720x784 comp into it - middle screen sits bang in the middle of new 1280 comp

RENDER.

Then for other screens we move along the X by a certain amount so that each other screen is completely within the 1280 comp window

RENDER, etc...

SO, what I'm wondering is - using this workflow does anyone know if Nucleo is just rendering what is visible in the comp window, or is it trying to render everything outside it aswell?

Thanks!
Jim.

make new comp @ 1280 x 720 HDTV. "

Just curious: what happens to the extra four pixels of vertical resolution? Do you just blow 'em off, which is what I'd do?

The other 64 pixels are the border around each screen - placeholders for the thickness of each screen's surround.

Gridiron sent me a very techy email which to be honest didn't really help! And I still can't fathom what's happening or why or if it can be fixed! I guess it'll be a dozen emails back and forth before it's clear! I'd have to phone in the middle of the night to get though that way!...I wish these companies would grasp the fact that it's not only the US that use their products! ;-)
