Radium Glow vs Star Glow
by Ken Latman on Jun 23, 2008 at 3:07:26 pm

Red Giant Software just released Radium Glow plug-in and was wondering how does this compare to Trapcode StarGlow? I'm in the process of making my Q3 purchases and was going to ask for StarGlow.
Are there any examples of video showing the two compared? Has anyone tried this new plug-in?

Thanks for your help.

[Ken Latman] "Has anyone tried this new plug-in?"

If it's a Red Giant product, you better make sure that it works with your set-up as their code is sloppy and full of bugs and updates are long in coming. They also ignore customer service issues. If you want to verify that, search this site for the last time one of their customer support people replied to any issues their customers were having. You won't find it in all likelihood. They also ignore emails.

So is it safe even to install their demo?

it looks like it is rather similar, but with more features... it would be nice if red giant had more examples of its features.

i do agree with charles... really, it's rarely a good idea to be the first person on your block to get a version 1 piece of software from anybody... you're usually better off waiting until and update or two later.

Charles:

Not sure where we went astray with you, but I hope I can somehow make it up to you. I searched our support database for you and found nothing, but after searching here it looks like you had an issue with KLF.

Let me state 2 things:

1. Whatever you want me to do to get you straight, I will personally handle it-- refund, product whatever
2. We try our best, at times we fail, however we are not out to "get" anyone or do any harm, if anyone has an issue we will take care of it, be it refund or whatever it takes. So to that extant, WE apologize you got wronged, but lets get your issue fixed to your satisfaction so you can move on. My personal email is john[at]redgiantsoftware.com, email me and I will personally take care of you -- today.

Charles, whatever it takes I will do, so you can move on and RG can as well.

Just doing a quick test comparing the two demos and I think I'm going to stick with my intial request for StarGlow. The effects appeal more to my liking and with more support found on the cow along with Trapcode's own tutorials I feel more comfortable.
Compare for yourself and determine the results.
