Hey say I have a weird shape I drew with the pen tool. Is it possible to select and reposition only the left side? I know how to select multiple point by holding cntrl, then clicking and dragging so that rectangle selection box comes up, but I can't move all these points.

Basically, you only use the pen tool to create mask vertices. You use the selection tool -- the arrow cursor, use the v key choose it -- to do pretty much everything else, including moving and modifying individual vertices, lassoing groups of vertices, etc.

Is it possible to just copy one anchor point and paste it into the next frame?
For example: Say frame 1 has a square and all the other frames have a square, but one corner is out of place. Can you copy the anchor point from frame 1 with the corner in the right place and paste it into the other frames, then delete the bad corners...so you are left with a perfect square?

When I have a mask that isn't quite square, I just select the offending mask vertex, then move it by using the up-down-right-left arrow keys to get it right.

Thanks, but I was trying to simplify my situation. I actually have rotoscope a moving animal. However, I made the mistake of being too precise when adjusting it. For instance, I really fined tuned every frame, so the leg appears to change shape.
I want to simply copy the mask area around the leg and make it the same for multiple frames so it doesn't "jitter around" as much. However, I don't want to lose the mask parts around the rest of the body.

Oh. Well, that's the danger of AE rotoscoping, because you can'tdo what you want. Because each Mask Position keyframe represents a SET of mask vertices, you'll have to change the bad mask vertices for every keyframe involved.
You can bet that people have been crabbing about this particular shortcoming of AE for a long, long time. I get the feeling that after many years of hearing people crab, the folks at Adobe would have fixed it if they could.

Ah, Dave, the new Advanced AE Rotoscoping title from the Creative COW Master Series, featuring Pete O'Connell, has some strategies and ways that GREATLY speed up the roto capabilities of After Effects.

Thank you, sir. I'll do that on Monday. But right now, I'm getting out of Bizarro World, aka flood-stricken downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for a little weekend R&R.
