I'm not new to AE, but this is a noob question...film look?

I know, I know, everyone here probably has their own formulas and ways of doing this, but I was wondering if someone could lay out how best to go about getting that film look with AE (or any CS3 programs). OR direct me to where I might find this info, thanks a googolplex...really.

deinterlace with fieldskit or AE export fields off and slow to 24p with timewarp or twixtor. change gamma curves, or buy 24p camera and pulldown to 23.976.

As for changing the frame rate, you can use Andrew Kramer's Frame Rate Converter, a free preset that's super easy to use.

I find his workflow wonky. See post.

What kind of film look are you after? Damaged film is one thing, applying a "look", as in color grading, is something else entirely.

And though I love 24p, it doesn't look like film....It just looks less like video.

I'm with Jon on this one. There's a lot more to getting a film look than just using a 24P frame rate.
