If you AUTHOR a DVD for use in a DVD player instead of burning a Data DVD, you have only one choice for video files: MPEG2. However, you don't want to render to MPEG2 in AE.

You're better off doing it in a third-party compression program (Apple Compressor, Sorenson Squeeze), or doing it in your authoring software if it can do it.

If you have less than 60 minutes in your reel, use the very best MPEG2 compression settings. Your software manuals should be able to guide you in getting the settings right.

[Dave LaRonde] "However, you don't want to render to MPEG2 in AE."

This is good advice because it's valuable to have a master high quality render from which you can make several different encodings.

However, that said the MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder included with AE is in many ways superior to Apple's. It is only available in CS3 on the Mac.
