Knoll using GPU = crash?!?
by Jimmy Brunger on May 21, 2008 at 12:18:38 pm

Does anyone else get a big fat crash when applying Knoll 2.5 with GPU acceleration enabled? On all our macs & PCs here we have to put caps lock on before applying a knoll effect, disable GPU and then take caps lock off. A workaround, but quite annoying!

I've got quite a decent GFX card aswell and it'd be nice to use it for plugins that actually make use of it! (Yes, I know AE itself is useless with OpenGL!)

Any thoughts?

i'm not sure if this woill help... but since opengl previews and multiprocessing are not compatible renderers (though you don't normally get a crash), but maybe there is a problem with opengl accelerated effects and multiprocessing... so, try disabling multiprocessing to see if that helps.

also, there was an update to klf (2.5.2), so make sure you have the latest version.

i'm just curious, do you see much of a performance gain with opengl enabled for previews vs. multiprocessing? in some quick tests that i did at work, i found that even our dual g5s rendered quicker previews with multiprocessing than they did with opengl acceleration....
