Camera Orbit interpreting wrong

I created a few elements (text, plate, design), enabled 3D for each, then I choose orbit camera.
I make a keyframe for position, then orbit to the right and around back for the second keyframe. It should just spin in place, but instead it adds an enormous zoom in the middle, and then back out. When I manually orbit it, it works just fine, but when I set the keyframes it goes rather crazy. There is no other adjustments, and it's not point of interest, which shows when I manually adjust it
It's happened on both projects I'm trying.
Any help?

Here's a workaround:
• Put a camera in its initial 3D position.
• Put a 3D null at the center point of the orbit -- if the camera were the Moon, you'd put the null in center of the Earth.
• Parent the camera to the null.
• Rotate the null.

Well, I checked out both options. The null didn't change anything, and the auto-orient was set to Point-of-Interest, so I tried the others.
But it seems like instead of orbiting around the object, the camera is going right through it to get to point B.
And If you can't tell, I'm still learning
