Blending edges of mask into layer below
by Ryan Kipp on May 15, 2008 at 3:04:30 am

I am replacing text on an existing video spot without having access to the original project file. So my dilemma is this: when I mask the text on the top layer and move the bottom layer (duplicate of top without the mask) up to fill the mask space with just color, the edges of the mask are visible. I've feathered as much as possible and gotten rid of 3 of the sides but am having trouble blending the 4th edge of the mask. Is there any color or blur trick I can use to blend the edges of the mask into the bottom layer so it is seemless and does not look like a box on top of the bottom layer? Hopefully this makes sense!

Well I had the exact same problem you did a few weeks ago. I of course did what you did, but what I found was that changing the transfer mode to lighten, darken or subtract something like that seemed to solve the problem. The blur weren't so good because it just spoiled the visuals.
