Particles from folder

Hello, Im wondering if there is a way to create a particle which accesses a folder of images, choosing them and animating them randomly. if there is a script someone could point me too please let me know. if i am unclear in what i am after please let me know.

Drop them all in a timeline, set them to one frame. Use the sequencer in the Animation menu to offset them.

Put that comp into your particle comp, set the sequenced timeline as your particle and set it to play random.
