wiggling scribbly motion text
by holly danger on May 6, 2008 at 4:41:49 am

Hello!

I'm creating some movie titles currently that I'd like to wiggle on screen as if it were a a hand drawn stop motion piece.

I really like what the vector paint wiggle control can do for animating strokes, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to do that with actual text versus drawing strokes out myself.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Thanks in advance!

You might want to try converting your text to Outlines (Layer>Create Outlines), then hitting it with Scribble (Render>Scribble). If the text isn't too thick, and the default "Inside" is selected for Fill Type, it gives an interesting wiggly look, which is highly changeable, see options under "Stroke Type", Wiggle Type and Wiggles per second.

It's worth a look.

Thanks! That actually was what I ended up using, it looks okay, but I was hoping after effects had another alternative, I guess that is my best bet without having to draw it myself frame by frame.
