Hello,
so im trying to shoot a clip in which a demon gets shot by a guy. the bullets are meant to go straight through the demon without hurting it, and hit the wall behind him...
I've already done the muzzle flash and lighting for the scene, but I cant get my head around a convincing way to make the bullet look like its gone through the demon...
the only thing i thought of right now is making bullet holes on the wall behind the demon and adding tiny instances of smoke...

How are you doing your actual bullet?
its it "matrixy" where you SEE the bullet / waves in the air?
or are you just using the flash and making holes? (meaning standard stuff where you wouldnt see the bullet)?
If its matrixy it'll be harder.. but if its normal you're on the right track, just make sure you do it at a slight angle so you can see the wall where it hits, the demon, and the muzzle flash in the same scene (at least thats how i'd do it).
The only other thing you might want to try, is maybe a small displacement map over top of the demons chest (or impact area) kinda like ripples in a pond signifying that it just phased right through him...
Let me know if this helps or if you need more info.. I might not know a lot - but I have some decent ideas :)

Thanx for the reply... Im not good with 3D so im just doing it NORMAL i suppose. There's a muzzle flash and smoke in the gun, there's lighting flash on the scene...
what you say makes perfect sense... is there anywhere i can find more info on how to do the displacement mapping ripple thing? that sounds like exactly what im looking for!!!- instead of showing the bullet travel you'll see it sort of going through the demon's body...
there is a shot where you pass through the guy's head as if POV of the bullet. I know you said you would probably keep it standard but this might give you some other ideas.
