CS3 and Windows XP 64bit
by Tyler Joynt on Apr 26, 2008 at 11:22:15 pm

I recently upgraded to 6GB of RAM so i installed XP Pro x64 so I could use it all with the CS3 suite.

For some reason everything sometimes gets really slow and weird. Updates dont show and the windows kinda freeze up until you click them. I have to scrub around a lot to get stuff to show up.
But it's not just AE, its PS and Illustrator too.

Is there some kind of bug or anything With XP Pro x64?
I only have SP1, so I might update to SP2 and just see.

Are there any specific settings I should change in AE and PS to make it run better?
I have a good amount of HDD space I can use as a scratch disk, but I dont know if that helps.

Sounds more like a video card issue than anything. Make sure you are using the latest/proper drivers for your card.

Hmm, well I downloaded the drivers off Nvidias site after I installed the OS, so I would think they are the latest.

There is probably a beta driver I can try.

I have an 8600GT if there's any known issue with it.
I have an 8600M GT in my MBP and it seems to work fine with windows and AFX (although i havent tried 64bit windows)
